Java Cafe

On Tuesday afternoon my lecture organized a small field trip to visit Java Cafe, located above Sovatepheap driving school along Preah Sihanouk blvd. It was part of the McKinsey Entrepreneurship Program that I am taking currently at NUM every saturdays mornings. The cafe serves different kinds of food and beverages. Besides it also displays some pieces of arts both from Cambodian and foreign artists, and they are for sale. Those pieces are changed every six-month period, so the cafe doesn't look boring with the same old decoration all the time. This time the paintings are not drawn by Cambodian artists but foreigners.

Group photo

My team! We named ourselves "TYPHOONS" lolz.... well one member was absent that time. In the pic : Sophea, Putdeka, Pisith, Vanreth, Solina and Me.

These muffins are ones of the best I've ever tasted.

The menu

This one costs US$300

Each of these costs US$650

Dana, the owner of the cafe, was explaining us about her business

these pieces cost US$1000 each, wanna get one?

can you see what is in the painting? u no wat is special bout this pic is that wen u see outside by ur own eyes it's hard to see what is in it but wen in photo, we can see clearer :D

Hi Kal,

Is it a cafe or a museum? Who owns that place ...?

DAS said...

There web site is http://javaarts.org/

But it looks outdated. It's a cafe and art gallery. The food is very good. And they do a lot to support Khmer artists.

It's a cafe not a museum, but it also sells paintings jus to support some artists, esp khmer artists. the owner is an American lady, Dana, whose pic u can find in the group photo. she's standing in the middle.

thanks Das for more info bout it ;-)
